Forestry, desertification, hunting and fishing

Spain boasts a wide range of forests, yet they all face a large number of impacts and effects brought about by climate change. These include a reduction in the availability of water resources, a rise in the severity of forest fires, torrential rainfall - with the corresponding impact on erosive procedures, the spread of plagues and disease and alterations to the phenology and physiology of tree species, which have varying types of effects on their productivity. All these impacts contribute to the growing vulnerability of Spain’s forest areas and therefore require measures to combat them.
