The Spanish Network of Cities for Climate brings together cities and towns committed to sustainable development and climate protection. It aims to be an instrument of technical support for Spanish local governments, providing them tools to achieve a model of sustainable development, while providing a forum to exchange knowledge and experiences.

At European level, there is an initiative called "Mayors Adapt" (Covenant of Mayors Initiative on Climate Change Adaptation). The signatories of this initiative undertake to develop a local strategy to adapt or integrate adaptation to climate change into existing plans.
