This study is based on a structured qualitativequestionnaire and interviews with C-level executives of the global insurance industry. The study offers new insights into the role of the insurance industry as risk experts, underwriters and investors in addressing the climate change goals and targets. A number of critical challenges have been indentifyed in the study, the challenges that need to be addressed by various stakeholders to enable the
expansion of the insurance industry’s contributions on both, the underwriting and investment sides. The study, on the other hand, emphazies how key stakeholders could benefit from engaging with the
insurance industry from an early stage and provides recommendations on how to move forward in the face of climate change.
