Human Health

The interactions between climate change and human health are both numerous and complex.  Scientific evidence has shown that climate change has altered the distribution of a number of vectors of infectious diseases, as well as the seasonality of certain pollen allergens, and led to a rise in the number of deaths attributed to heat waves.

Spain predicts a rise in morbimortality caused by heat waves, which, due to climate change, are expected to become more frequent, intense and of greater duration over the coming decades.  A further factor for consideration is the risk associated with the spread to our country of established or new disease vectors.
