Insurance is crucial to adapt to the risks of climate change and its consequences, which often result in natural catastrophes and extreme hydrometeorological events, directly affecting the insurance sector. In this context, the industry must adopt measures to assess risk changes.

Other Case studies

Weather- and climate-related damages, in particular those due to flooding, pose substantial risks to the business continuity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Losses and damages related to urban flooding and storms are likely to increase due to climate change. The insurance industry can potentially play a key role in climate change adaptation by contributing to the understanding of risks associated with climate change.

Climate change will have an adverse impact on many economic sectors (such as energy, food, construction, tourism, insurance). In the banking sector, it is acknowledged that risks faced by clients also create risks for banks.
